Three peeps, two teeth and one birthday

Here is our family in front of the Christ the Redeemer statue - July 2008. Wow - I love Rio!

The last few weeks have been full of adventure. JTP has been in Rio de Janeiro this past week so it has just been me and the kids (the three peeps) flying solo. We have had a fine time here in Washington with the signs of spring just beginning to show. We do wish we were in Rio with its beautiful beaches, great weather and beautiful scenery. However, we are managing here and learning to ask for help from our great neighbors.

BLP lost two teeth recently as well (February 26th to be exact. She asked that I mention the actual date!) She was a trooper since they were not super loose but needed to come out as her permanent teeth had already grown in half way. She was reluctant but finally I convinced her, after bribes and much cajoling, to let me try my hardest to get them out. I told her I would work on it for five minutes, if I had not been successful after that, I would quit. Thank heavens I was successful. Honestly, though, I really extracted the second one. I felt myself physically pull the tooth out. It was kind of gross. All that was missing were the pliers and the dentist chair. She was pleased as punch to get them out and was, deservedly, very proud of herself.

The gross view of BLP's recently lost teeth.

This past week marked AJP’s ninth birthday. Since, JTP is gone we did not really celebrate. We will have cake when he gets back and while my mom is visiting next weekend. I did let him pick dinner that night, though, and he picked hot dogs. I thought (and may have said), “Really, hot dogs? Are you sure you don’t want to go out or something? That would be an option." "Seriously, you still want hot dogs? Well, OK.” So on Thursday evening we had hot dogs. He also got to stay up late to watch part of the BYU game that night. He was thrilled! We had given him a t-shirt with Fredette’s number on it. He proudly wore it during the game and to school the next day.
