Let's all take a moment and think about the wonderful women that have shaped our lives. Let us also think about the incredible power that women can have to shape their families and communities and through that the world. Below is a video of the International Women of Courage Awards. I was struck most by the women that are receiving the awards. Perhaps these women are extraordinary but I prefer to believe that they are just ordinary women in extraordinary circumstances. They saw a need and took a stand. Most of us may not find ourselves in those extraordinary circumstances but we can be just as extraordinary. We can choose to live a life centered on our values. We can stop to lift the hand of another. We can choose to look outside ourselves. We can be the voice for those without a voice. All of these women did just that.
To all the women in this world that choose to influence their sphere for good and to the mothers that raise their children to be contributing citizens and good adults - I express my sincerest gratitude.
