A few weeks ago in our Kenya research we learned that leopards occasionally attack dogs in some parts of Nairobi. Immediately after hearing this, the kids asked for a dog. While I paused to think of an appropriate response to getting a pet to use as bait, our cute first grader said, “We could get a crappy one.”
