Last Sunday was really Fast Sunday in our congregation but I was so busy doing church things, I did not get a chance to write what I was thankful for. I guess I could have throughout the week but I spent it finishing my final paper for this semester. It is good I subscribe to the “better late than never” philosophy.
This month I am thankful for the following. . .
1. My classes are over until next semester. It will be nice to have a break. I love learning and even writing papers but I feel like my world stops the week or so before they are due. I become so focused that I don’t really have brain space for anything else.
2. The wonderful responses to our Thanksgiving note. I am terribly nervous about getting everything timed right for our new arrival and quick departure. All of the warm wishes really lifted my heart.
3. Christmas. I love Christmas but I don’t love winter. The short days and cold weather put me in a funk but Christmas makes it all OK. The Christmas carols, warm wishes and extra bit of goodwill helps lift me out of the funk. I also love the Christmas story. I know that it actually happened but there is still a sort of magic about it. This is such a special time of year.
