The Super Committee

I got so disgusted this morning thinking about the impending failure of the "Super Committee" that I wrote this letter to members of the House and the Senate. I know they don't really care and that it was a waste of my time. If they really cared about our country and its citizens they would find a way to compromise. It is what true leaders do.

Dear ,

With all due respect, where are the grown ups that are suppose to make up our government? The anticipated failure of the Super Committee is unacceptable. I am disgusted by the blame game that has taken over Washington. I watched all of the major news outlets this morning and heard each side spinning the failure for their benefit. It reminds me of when my children (6 and 9) fight over who should unload the dishwasher. They always say it is the others responsibility. Neither one is willing to say they are sorry and solve the problem. It is a sad day in American politics when there is little difference between the Congress and young children. A difference does exist, however. My children do say they are sorry and do start to work together - usually within a few minutes. They even occasionally unload the dishwasher for each other just to be nice. I have yet to see evidence in Congress of such behavior. Perhaps my children should visit and teach Congress about civility, compromise, and general kindness. Congress has much to learn from them.

Sincerely,
