Crazy AJP

In the past few weeks we have had two very funny experiences with AJP.

Number One:

When we first arrived to Sao Paulo, we found out that one of our bags was missing.  It turned out to be AJP’s bag with most of his clothes.  He only had the few items of clothing packed in carry-on bags or the miscellaneous bag.  Most of those clothes were long sleeved since we had just come from the very cold.  The problem was that it was very hot when we arrived.  In desperation, I said that if AJP’s bag did not arrive we may have to cut the sleeves off of one of his shirts.  His bag arrived the next day so we never did need to cut the sleeves off.  Unfortunately, AJP thought that sounded wonderful.  He kept asking me if he could cut the sleeves off of one or another of his shirts.  I would always say no.  Well, one day this past week AJP came to me with the shirt he wanted to wear.  It just happened to be one of his new long sleeved shirts with the sleeves cut off!  I was very upset mostly because I had repeatedly told him we were not going to cut the sleeves off one of his shirts.  We decided that an appropriate consequence was that I could pick out his school clothes for the next three days.   He was horrified but I think he learned a valuable lesson.  Below is AJP sporting his version of his new shirt!

Number Two:

We have a grill outside on one of the decks of our apartment.  It is just outside our breakfast room with big sliding glass doors.  It is really fun to have and we use it a lot.  One evening last week, we were cooking dinner on the grill.  The whole family was on the deck enjoying the sunset and the fresh air.  We told the kids it was time to go in.  Like the very obedient child that he is, AJP did not waste any time going in.  The problem was that he did not look to see if the glass door was open.  He charged full throttle into the glass.  He only suffered a bloody nose and bruised pride.  However, I could not stop laughing.  I felt a little guilty laughing so much but it was just so funny.  He hit it so hard it looked like it was from a cartoon.  He even bounced back onto his bottom.  Very, very funny.
