Lock up
Last night we had some friends over for dinner. We ate a picnic on the grass outside of our apartment building. It was great fun especially since it was summer like weather. After dinner, we returned to our apartment. As the adults were talking, BLP decided to lock herself in our bedroom. The first time she did it she managed miraculously to unlock the door. The second time, however, she was not so lucky. We prompted her, coached her, even coaxed her, but she still could not unlock the door. Luckily, we were able to make sure she was safe through the window from our bedroom out onto our balcony. The best part of the ordeal came when AJP suggested that we use an ax to break the door down. He graciously offered the plastic ax from his fireman Halloween costume but then remembered that it was on the other side of the locked door. We tried every thing but taking apart the doorknob. When nothing seemed to work, we called the management for help. After a number of failed attempts as well, they ended up taking the doorknob apart! BLP was freed amused but unharmed. Later that night, right before bed, AJP suggested that we “buy an ax just in case this happens again.”
