Math Skills

For some reason, AJP is really good at math. Since neither of his parents really is, we think he must have been struck by lightning or hit on the head to get these skills. Last week, he said, “What’s 39 and four?” We figured out together that the answer is 43. Then AJP announced, “Your grandfather died 43 years ago.” Surprisingly enough, this is the correct answer. I was puzzled for a while and then I figured out what he did and verified it with him. “Did you figure that out because Uncle D is 39 and my grandfather died four years before he was born?” “Yup.” I still have no idea how he remembered that.
