Are you serious!?

A little while ago I was stopped at a red light. When the light changed I had to wait a little extra time as someone going the other way ran the light…in a horse-drawn cart! Since we’ve come to Colombia we’ve seen some interesting (and dangerous) driving moves, but I think this one takes it.

That reminds me of when I was in Nigeria a few weeks ago, jogging through Abuja, and a car suddenly pulls onto the sidewalk in front of me with a bumper sticker that says "I'm the best!" I was like: yeah, you're the best at hitting runners on the sidewalk. Congratulations!

It also reminds me of a story Wendell Berry told in his book The Gift of Good Land, in which in Lima, Peru, a driver stops at a red light, another car rear-ends him, and the cops come and decide the guy who stopped was at fault because he stopped at the red light even though no one was coming the other way.

So was the horse-drawn cart flying along, or was it moseying?
