This past weekend has been the General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During the talks, I reflected on our little AJP. He has been fascinated by the modern prophets for about a year now. His interest was piqued by watching the church movie, “The Mountain of the Lord”. Asher has requested every Sunday afternoon to watch this movie. After a while, he started asking me about the prophets. Our conversation went something like this:
AJP: “Who was the prophet after Brigham Young.”
TSP: “John Taylor”. (I was lucky with that one. I actually knew it.)
AJP: “Who was the prophet after John Taylor?”
TSP “Wilford Woodruff” (thank you, “Mountain of the Lord”)
AJP: “Who was the prophet after Wilford Woodruff?”
TSP: “Joseph F. Smith” (correct answer: Lorenzo Snow)
AJP: “Who is after him?”
TSP: “I have no idea”
This same dialogue continued every morning at breakfast. Finally, I decided to take out the list of prophets. At least with the list on our bulletin board, when he asked me, I would have a “cheat-sheet”. He really is amazing. He knows all the prophets, by name, in order. In fact, JTP invented a game with him yesterday. It was called “put the prophets in order by their picture”. He did better than JTP. We are really proud of him.
