I was so completely focused on my own school that I
neglected to write blog posts about what the kids did this school year. Now that we are back from vacation, I thought
I would add this post before the vacation posts are added.
We took advantage of Nairobi’s great weather and spent time
at the pool. The kid’s school has a
great pool with diving boards and BLP’s friend has a pool at her house.
The kids showed their school pride and participated spirit
week. One of their favorites was crazy
hair day.
The kids participated in the swim meet their school hosted. It was a lot of fun but a lot of work. JTP and I volunteered to help the meet run smoothly. AJP swam in the individual medley, the breast stroke, the freestyle, the backstroke and the butterfly. BLP did all of the same events with the exception of the butterfly. She was really worried about the medley because she did not feel very confident about her ability to swim the butterfly. I spoke with her and said that if her coach thought she was ready she could do it. She did it and swam her little heart out and finished the long swim (100 m total). After she was finished, her coach came up to me and told me how proud he was of her.
AJP worked hard this past year and earned his Arrow of Light
in Cub Scouts. He had a lot of fun
completing the requirements and being with his friends.
Finally, AJP graduated from 5th grade. His school had a promotion/graduation
ceremony. It was really great to see how
much he has grown up. It is hard to
believe but he is now a rising middle schooler.
