This past Wednesday it was about 50°F outside and I literally saw people wearing parkas. I can’t say that I blame them since I wish I had one to wear. It felt sooooo cold! All of the buildings here are made out of cement and brick without any type of heating (other than a space heater) so it often feels colder inside than out. I will admit that this whole past week I was lamenting not having gloves and wondering where I put my winter hat. I wore a turtleneck sweater with a long sleeved shirt underneath and even put on socks (something I have not done regularly in over a year!). AJP wore two long sleeved shirts to school and BLP wore a long sleeved shirt and a sweatshirt under her uniform.
I suppose this just illustrates the amazing ability of a human to adapt. When I was younger, I would have laughed at anyone that wore a parka in 50°F weather. I would have probably called them “wimps” or a “panty-waist” (whatever that means). I also thought that 85°F was like walking on the sun. Now, I find myself shivering at 50°F and find 85°F an “average” temperature.
PS - This is our 150th blog entry. Maybe during our vacation I will do something clever like highlight my favorite posts . . .

I understand! When we lived in AZ and the temps dropped from 100 to 80, I had to put a sweatshirt on when I got up in the morning. You need to gradually adjust to weather changes, I think.
Hope you have a great trip to the US!
Pantywaist: A child's undergarment consisting of a shirt and pants buttoned together at the waist. Basically, calling someone that means that they are acting like a little kid.
