I just received “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” by Julia Child in the mail. It is absolutely wonderful! While I have not yet made any of the recipes, I am in awe of the careful explanations and directions the cookbook contains. I am only to the second chapter (sauces) and I have already learned so much. It is easy to see why this cookbook was so revolutionary in the age of TV dinners. It takes everything that an apprentice would learn from a chef and adapts it to an American kitchen. I have always been a fan of Julia Child but now I love her even more. I only ask myself what took me so long to read this book!

That's where I got my recipe for hollandaise sauce. It's yummie.
Actually, if it weren't for Steamfresh veggies (on sale and with a coupon) with broccoli with cheese sauce already in the package, we probably would have made that hollandaise sauce last night. But the homemade wontons were pretty tasty.
I've been thinking about you guys a lot lately. When are you coming state side again? We do not get together often enough. Miss you!
(oh, and Her Nibs wants to do a Butterfly theme for her 5th birthday, which has me thinking about BLP's birthday from last year, too)
I will be happy to taste-test for you at any moment!!
