Two classics from AJP

First

Last weekend, Little League was at the local English language catholic school. AJP asked me (JTP) as we left, “Can anyone go to school there?” I said “Kind of, they have to speak English and there has to be a place for them, but I think about anyone can.” He then asked, “Why do they have all the crosses then?” I explained it was a catholic school. He thought for a second and said, “Next time we’re there if someone asks if we’re allowed to be there, I’ll say ‘my grandparents used to be catholic.’”

Second

Last night for family home evening, we were planning for AJP’s part in the primary program at church. He needs to write a two minute talk on what the scriptures teach him about Jesus. The conversation went like this:

TSP: AJP, what have you learned about Jesus from the scriptures?
AJP: He was baptized to set an example.
TSP: Excellent. What else?
AJP: That he healed people like the lady that touched his coat.
TSP: Another good one. Can you think of anything else?
AJP: He was crucified for the sins of the world.
TSP: OK then, I think that about covers it.

The last comment by me was said with my lower jaw on the floor in pure amazement. AJP is only six and understands more about religion than most people do in their entire lives.
