Blog-stalking

I am not sure if there really is such a word as blog-stalking. I do know, however, that it exists and that many people do it. I had an interesting experience with it yesterday. Months ago, I ran across a blog on the sidebar of one of our friends blogs. I clicked on it one day when I had some time (well maybe I was really avoiding using my time more wisely). The entry for that day was hilarious. I seriously could have seen myself in a situation like she described. I visited the blog a few more time. It intrigued me because it was obvious by the entries that we had two things in common. We lived in same metro area and that she was Mormon. After a week or so of continuous blog stalking, I stopped reading the blog until one Sunday when I heard her receive a calling in our ward. I did not see her and was not 100% sure it was even her. Months went by and I occasionally read her blog but never ran across her at church so that I could confirm that my blog-stalking victim and the woman at church were one in the same. The ending to the story came last Sunday. The woman received yet another calling but this time I noticed her. The blog personality and the woman at church were the same person. JTP teased me relentlessly that I should introduce myself and tell her that I had been blog-stalking her. I was not so sure it was a good idea but the teasing was unrelenting. I walked by her as I was leaving church and knew I had to talk with her. If I did not introduce myself to her I would be teased from now until the end of time. I asked if I could speak with her and then more or less blurted out, “I have been blog-stalking you.” She laughed. I think it was one of those laughs that mix horror with humor. I explained how I started reading her blog and about JTP goading me into talking with her. We spoke for a while and laughed. We gave her our blog address with an invitation to stalk us. It was really fun in a crazy weird frightening but kind of cool way.

I'm totally stalking you now, but your blog it much more interesting than mine. I'm really glad you talked to me because I also felt "it was really fun in a crazy weird frightening but kind of cool way." Plus we're not total strangers, we've got mutual friends.
