Grateful Fast Sunday XXXXIX

This is AJP participating in the Marine Challenge at the Embassy.  He won 2nd place for his age.  While the photo does not really pertain to my post, it was a nice photo of one of my favorite people, whom I am very grateful for!

I have not been very good at doing blog post generally and, especially bad at getting my Grateful Fast Sunday Posts up.  We had Fast Sunday two weeks ago but I didn’t put anything up.  Notwithstanding that it is past the date, I am still grateful for all of these things:
1.  I don’t suffer from hunger.  I am reading a book about subsistence farming in Western Kenya.  They have a time that is called Wanjala.  In their language, it literally means hunger.  They use it to describe the time after their food from the prior harvest has run out and they can’t harvest the new crop yet.  Honestly, I have never known that type of hunger.  I have always had enough to eat.  Thinking about that type of hunger has made me make a parallel with spiritual hunger, which is something I know about.  I have felt the deep desire to know something is true.  I have felt the yearning for a prayer to be answered and the drought-like feeling when the answer took longer than expected.  I know what it is like to be spiritually hungry.  I am grateful today that I know where to go for the food to fill that emptiness so I don’t have to experience that type of hunger either.

2.  My family.  I have been crazy trying to finish my class up (it is now finished).  I am a perfectionist and spend large amounts of time on my school work.  AQP has been especially great with her naps so I could write my papers.  I am so blessed to have a husband and children (not to mention parents and parent-in-law) that support me in this.

3.  All the awesome things I have been able to see so far in my life.  As a child growing up in a small intermountain west town, I never would have guess that someday I would have been fortunate enough to have had the adventures I have been blessed with.
