Me and my two girls in front of the baby elephants.
I am not deluding myself into thinking that we have a large
blog readership.
I mainly write for
myself and to have a record of events for our family.
Just in case we do have a larger readership
than I think (or some new readers), I will explain why I make these posts.
In our church, the first Sunday of every
month we go without food for 24 hours.
We then donate the money we would have spent on food to the poor.
Additionally, we have a special meeting on
Fast Sundays where we share our beliefs.
So when I wanted to do grateful posts a couple of years ago, I thought
that having it coincide with Fast Sunday was the perfect fit.
It was a time when I was already thinking
about gratitude and the blessings I have received from the Lord.
Today has been no exception.
I have thought and pondered about gratitude
for the past day and have come up with a few things I am grateful for.
1. The amazing earth.
We were lucky enough to go on a special viewing of the orphaned
elephants at the
David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage.
It was fantastic to get to touch an
elephant.
Their skin is rough but it
also has pretty stiff and course hair on it.
It is such a great experience!
2. Good friends. Some friends of ours from Virginia sent us a package
with a Costco size package of chocolate chips.
I just made our first batch of cookies with them. They are so good!!
3.
The beauty of
children.
I work in with the children at
church.
They are learning a
song about
how they know Heavenly Father loves them.
It is so sweet to hear their little voices singing that beautiful song.
