My cherubs at the Giraffe Center.
While Fast Sunday was last Sunday, I did not get time to
write my monthly post. I have been
thinking about it a lot but was unable to carve out the time to write it. My gratitude thoughts have been mostly
focusing on me being a stay-at-home mom.
I have been thinking about it primarily because of a number of General
Conference talks that focused on children and parenting. At this same time, JTP was asked by a number
of women at his work why so many Mormon women are stay-at-home moms. While I listened/read the talks in
conference, I reflected on the question JTP had been asked. I came to the conclusion that I am very
grateful that I have the privilege and opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom and
that I am part of a faith that values that.
Too often in the world, women that stay at home with their children are
viewed as lazy or unmotivated. Their
role in society is not valued or it is deemed unimportant. I am so grateful that my church feels
differently and that JTP fully supports me.
I am so blessed to have a husband that not only supports this but sees
the value it can add to our children.
Not everyone has this opportunity which makes me even more grateful for
it.
