As I mentioned in an earlier post, AJP and BLP started school recently. AJP entered 4th grade and BLP started 1st grade. It has been a great experience so far. They both have great teachers. They go to different schools but that is kind of nice because it gives each school the opportunity to focus on a specific age of children. We are really happy that we live where we do.
This year in AJP's school, they have a series of grade-wide projects that focus on communities. One of those activities is a market day in the spring. In preparation for that, AJP had to apply for a classroom job. He wanted agenda checker and got hired! I couldn’t help but notice that all the jobs that interested him were the highest paying. I am not sure if that is good or bad. There is also an opportunity for 4th graders to be chosen as patrol officers. The patrol officers help ensure safety in the halls and while kids are getting on the bus. AJP really wanted to be chosen for the patrol. He carefully filled out his application and did a really amazing job. He thoughtfully answered the questions and expressed himself so well that I was especially proud of him when he was selected.
BLP has also had a great start to the year. She has an opportunity to be part of a special class that learns about some special topics. They have learned so far about the constitution, the Autumnal Equinox and have written acrostic poems. She is overjoyed that she has homework. She is also excited to read right along with AJP when he does his reading homework. She is really thriving and we couldn’t be happier.
