I am not sure there has been a Fast Sunday where I have felt more grateful. This has been an amazing summer in so many ways and full of home-grown adventure. Right before my classes started, I was called into the Primary at church. It is a lot of work but such a remarkable experience. I took five weeks of intense courses where I have learned a lot about myself and my family. As soon as I finished those classes, the “bidding season” began with the release of the bid list. We narrowed it down pretty quick since we have been talking about our priorities for a while. We will be sure to announce where we eventually get assigned sometime in November but until then we are keeping all of our potential places close to the vest. It should be fun to find out where our next adventure will take us and start to plan toward that. The cherry on top of all this adventure is that today also happens to be my birthday.
This month I am grateful for. . .
1. Books. I learned so much during my classes from my text books and have read non-stop since my classes ended a week ago. These books have taught me and helped me to decompress. I am so grateful for books.
2. Fasting and the Temple. We have some big decisions ahead of us with the bid list and my schooling. It has been wonderful to know that we can use fasting to humble ourselves to know the Lord’s will and to attend the Temple to feel His Spirit near. We fasted today and went to the Temple on Friday. Both of these things are precious manifestations of our faith.
3. The children in the Primary. Since I was called about a month ago, I have been given the rare gift on a few occasions of feeling in a very small way the incredible love that our Heavenly Father and Jesus has for children. It is amazing to look into their faces every Sunday and see everything that is good about this world. They are full of love and hope and potential. I am truly blessed to play a small part in letting them know the love their Father in Heaven and Jesus has for them.
