A week ago today, the movers finished packing up our house for our eventual move to Sao Paulo. Moving with the Department of State is somewhat complex since there are many different regulations and different types of shipments. We had some of our stuff going to Sao Paulo directly (via storage in Miami for six months). We also could have had items go into storage in Maryland but, since we own so little, we really did not have anything to go into storage. The final type of shipment is one that will go by air for us to use in Washington. All of these different shipments have weight limits and the air shipment even has size limits. I literally spent months getting ready. First, I planned what we wanted to go where. Then as the day closed in on me, I started physically moving things so that the movers would not get confused and send only the knick-knack box to Sao Paulo. Maybe that sounds a bit strange but I have heard worse! I am glad that it is over. I have spent this past week recovering.
Also a week ago today, a very important event happened. JTP and TSP celebrated their ten year anniversary. After the movers left with all our belongings, we went to a small French restaurant near our apartment to celebrate. We don’t go out a lot without the kids so it was nice to have time together. JTP enjoyed rosemary rabbit with a dijon sauce and TSP ate a beautiful pepper steak with blue cheese. It has been a great ten years!
